Webinar/Virtual Meeting

Join NASEO and NARUC for a webinar on Aligning Regulatory Processes for Distribution Cost Containment. Distribution grid investment costs are skyrocketing and since 2018 have been the fastest growing category of utility capital spending nationwide. Grid resilience, managing ageing infrastructure, enabling load growth, and supporting grid modernization are critical cost categories and create a challenging cost environment. During this webinar, RMI will share their new framework for distribution grid cost containment. RMI’s research proposes that all states, whether they currently have a formal distribution system planning (DSP) process or internal utility process, can take steps to harmonize grid planning with cost recovery and customer offerings to minimize unnecessary cost growth and create cost efficiencies.

This webinar is open to the public but specifically addresses the work of the NASEO and NARUC Comprehensive Electricity Planning Task Force (CEPT). CEPT members will hear about key process changes and regulatory steps to improve clarity, coordination, and consistency across planning, customer offerings and program designs, cost recovery processes, and tracking and accountability metrics.
