On April 13, 2020, the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Office of Fossil Energy released a report titled “Safe Geologic Storage of Captured Carbon Dioxide: Two Decades of DOE’s Carbon Storage R&D Program in Review” which examines how DOE has invested more than $1 billion over the last twenty years through its Carbon Storage Research and Development Program to support the research, development, demonstration, and deployment of carbon capture and geologic storage technologies.  Through the program, DOE has worked collaboratively with national laboratories, research institutions, and industry stakeholders to address the challenges of addressing greenhouse gas emissions while supporting the continued use of fossil fuels.
