New York Awards 2.5 GW Offshore Wind Contract and Announces First U.S. Offshore Wind Tower Manufacturing Facility

New York awarded a 2.5 GW offshore wind contract this month, bringing it closer to its target of producing 9 GW of offshore wind by 2035. Pending approval by the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority, the largest offshore wind contract in New York and one of the single largest renewable energy contracts in the U.S. was won by Equinor and BP. As part of the award, New York also announced the construction of the first offshore wind tower manufacturing facility in the U.S. The facility in the Port of Albany is estimated to create 500 construction jobs and 300 long-term positions.
