Maryland Energy Administration Announces Open Applications for the Maryland Offshore Wind Education and Workforce Program and Maryland Offshore Wind Supply Chain Investment Program

The Maryland Energy Administration (MEA) is accepting applications for both the Maryland Offshore Wind Education and Workforce Program and the Maryland Offshore Wind Supply Chain Investment Program. These opportunities aim to support the growth of Maryland's offshore wind industry by funding innovative educational and workforce development initiatives and supporting local Maryland businesses engage in the industry. More information for each program can be found below:

  • Maryland Offshore Wind Education and Workforce Program:
    • Nonprofit and academic institutions within Maryland can receive up to a $500,000 grant award or coverage of 75% of total project costs.
    • Areas of interest:
      • Industry education: Develop or expand existing programs to incorporate broad based offshore wind education.
      • Workforce training: Develop or expand existing programs to incorporate offshore wind relevant certification opportunities.
    • Application deadline: December 13, 2024
  • Maryland Offshore Wind Supply Chain Investment Program:
    • Emerging businesses, nonprofit organizations, and academic institutions within Maryland can receive grant awards.
    • Areas of interest:
      • Capital expenditures: Receive an award of up to $400,000 or up to 50% of project costs to offset capital expenditures for organizations facing cost burdens to enter the offshore wind industry.
      • Industry events: Receive an award of up to $5,000 to attend an eligible offshore wind industry event.
    • Application deadline: March 15, 2025, or until all funding is expended
